'lo quality self-value' was something I saw scrawled on a bathroom wall in a Chicago diner one late night in 2016. I wrote it down in a little notebook and forgot about it. About a year later I was working on this album. Pretty keyboard melodies, damaged loops, and tape samples recorded in a collage fashion and then run through a modded and barely functioning portable tape player - a completely different method than I had previously worked. The results are longform ruminations on trying to leave New York City while struggling through depression and a career that was absolutely dehumanizing. Sometime while working on the album, I found the notebook I had written 'lo quality self-value' in, and it stuck, the perfect title for the material and the time period. Originally released on the Personal Archives label in 2018, I'm happy to give this album a second life, with new and expanded artwork.
