Ian MacPhee's 'Distance' is a collection of meditative ambient drone intertwined with field recordings and radio frequencies, largely inspired by his travels in Japan. Written between 2022 and 2023, new sounds are crafted through experiments in digital processing. The album also has a visual component, by way of a photo zine and music video for lead single "Move", which document many of the places where the field recordings were captured. Each component of 'Distance' feels intentional and deeply personal, soundscapes that are given space to unfold, build, and ultimately transport you to MacPhee's experiences.
