Long-running indie rock group Hypocrite in a Hippy Crypt return for their seventh Already Dead release, 'The New Planet'. Available Sept. 15th on cassette & digital. Also available in the September Tape Release Bundle.
While still falling under the indie/garage rock umbrella, 'The New Planet' sees the project exploring new territory, delving into elements of twee pop and even psychedelia. The album also marks Hypocrite's debut into analog and modular synths, bringing much of the aforementioned psych influence, such as in lead single "The Next Level". While often upbeat and hopeful musically, lyrically the album focuses on themes of escapism and detachment, creating an interesting dynamic of emotions perfect for the end of the summer season. 'The New Planet' sees Hypocrite in a Hippy Crypt in top form, with some of their strongest and catchiest songwriting and production to date, a true gem in an over decade-long career full of them.
